Cardiff Chess School offers a unique, results-driven perspective on chess improvement. Unlike many lifelong players, I understand the modern path to success, having climbed from a 400 to 1500 rating in just one year in 2020.
Now ranked among the Top 100 players in Wales with a 2200 online rating, I aim to combine my years of coaching experience with the relatability of someone who has recently navigated every rung of the ladder.
As a native English speaker, I make efforts to be approachable and patient, and am very happy to treat our lessons as Chess/English if that is of interest.
Services
Begin or accelerate your chess journey quickly with personalised coaching from a friendly, highly experienced coach who tailors each session precisely to your goals, learning style, and pace. Lessons are suitable and adaptable for children, beginners, intermediate players, and advanced competitors, with structured, progressive instruction designed to build confidence, refine technique, deepen strategic understanding, and sharpen competitive skills.

Instructor‑led group chess coaching with Joe Browse and FM Daniel Kozusek. Two experienced coaches give focused instruction in a cost‑effective group format for motivated students.
Format: Two 2‑hour sessions per month. Small groups, interactive board work, live analysis, and individual feedback. Lessons cover openings, tactics, positional play, middlegames, endgames, and homework.
Who it's for: School and college students (beginners to advanced club juniors) wanting higher ratings and better tournament results.
Logistics: 2 × 2‑hour sessions monthly, £25/hr. Limited group size (first‑come, first‑served). Discounted student pricing vs one‑to‑one coaching. Flexible monthly starts and easy signup.
